Safety Test

Please familiarize yourself with the ARC Safety Policy and Club Rules before attempting this test. All personal contact information gathered shall remain private and will not be shared. After completing the test successfully a confirmation email will be sent to you, the ARC Captain, and the ARC Safety Officer. All questions must be answered.

Contact and Program Information
Part 1: Dock
  1. West (bow towards the Humber)
    East (bow towards Ontario Place)
  2. West (bow towards the Humber)
    East (bow toward Ontario Place)
  3. launching crews

Part 2: Overall Traffic
  1. Travel down the middle of the course except when passing.
    Hug the shoreline when traveling west toward the Humber River, and the breakwall when traveling east toward Ontario Place.
    Hug the breakwall when traveling west toward the Humber River, and the shoreline when traveling east toward Ontario Place.
  2. Club boats are permitted on the Humber River only when accompanied by a coach boat.
    Only club singles are permitted on the Humber River.
    Only certified and experienced crews are permitted on the Humber River, and only when accompanied by a coach boat.
    Club boats are not permitted on the Humber River.
Part 3: Turning and Passing
  1. The faster crew has the right of way. The slower crew must give way.
    The slower crew has the right of way. A faster crew may pass only if the slower crew indicates that they may do so.
  2. The faster boat should pass on the port side of the boat being passed.
    The faster boat should pass on the starboard side of the boat being passed.

Part 4: Safety

  3. Coach boats must not wake crews.
    Coach boats must always give way to other crews as they approach.
    Coach boats are not allowed east of the end of the new breakwall, toward Ontario Place.
    Coach boats are not allowed outside the breakwall.
